Drug dealer sentenced and subject to deportation proceedings

A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 2 years’ imprisonment following his arrest in Sudbury for drug offences.

William Silva de Nascimento, of no fixed abode, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court today Wednesday 26 August, charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

On 27 July 2026, officers had cause to stop a black Ford Focus car travelling along Melford Road in Sudbury.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and officers conducted a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search of the car from which they located split bundles of cash.

Following his arrest his mobile phone was seized for examination, on which messages were later identified as being consistent with drugs supply.

The court heard that Silva de Nascimento was linked to a West Balkan Organised Crime Group, and that he had dealt nearly 200 individual wraps of cocaine between 12 June and 27 July 2026 in the areas of Sudbury, Watford and Kent.

In addition to his sentence, he will also be subject to deportation proceedings.

The court ordered the forfeiture of £540 in cash, along with a mobile phone and other drug-dealing paraphernalia.

PC Owen Turner, who was the officer in charge of the case said, “This case highlights the effectiveness of proactive policing, with officers stopping and searching those suspected of criminal activity.

“The vehicle was not showing on police records as being insured, and as officers requested to see proof of insurance from Silva de Nascimento’s phone, he attempted to delete content in a bid to conceal his criminality.

“Drug-related crime causes significant harm and misery within our communities. We encourage members of the public to report concerns or suspicious activity so we can continue to disrupt those involved in the supply of illegal drugs.”
